Smart business leaders know that fundamental organizational performance and leadership must be consciously developed. As a speaker, consultant, and author, I am dedicated to helping organizations cultivate winning practices and fuel success every day.
Dr. John Gillis, Jr. is the best selling co-author of Powerhouse: 13 Teamwork Tactics that Build Excellence and Unrivaled Success, and an acclaimed business facilitator who founded the pioneering leadership development consultancy LeadershipX.
The world’s leading organizations look to Dr. Gillis to provide them with the practical knowledge needed to improve their performance by focusing on the key business issues. In his decades as a global management consultant, he drove growth at dozens of blue chip companies across a wide spectrum of industries, including IBM, American Express, Dell Technologies, PayPal, and Verizon, among many others.
With LeadershipX, Dr. Gillis created a next-generation, digital and high-fidelity business simulation to engage, immerse and develop global executives, and he complements that proprietary tool by building collaborative business relationships with clients to deliver consulting expertise focused on strategy / board alignment, talent management, change management and organization development.
His doctoral degree is from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education and Wharton Business School (dissertation on Global Leadership Development.)
Giving back to the community, John was on the Board of Wonders & Worries, President of the PennCLO Doctoral Alumni Network, Scout Cub Master, coach of numerous sports teams, and the founder and president of non-profit CampLIFE! He lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife Lynette and their four children: Jack, Rylan, Caroline, and Mary Claire.
My signature keynote presentation, “How to Build a Powerhouse,” introduces audiences to the research-based tools and strategies that are proven to transform group dynamics within any organization. Leaders who are ready to turn their teams’ internal operations into a competitive advantage in the marketplace will walk away ready to Transform, Empower, Achieve, and Motivate their teams.

Through my experience working with LeadershipX clients to develop their leaders of the future, I came to believe that I could go beyond the core offering to help them improve their operations and results TODAY.
So I set out to write a book that would revolutionize teams in their organizations and help them achieve sustainable excellence and peerless success. But I soon realized that my insights from the corporate world only told part of the story. To deliver the impact I hoped for I needed an elite team.
I partnered with one of the most successful athletes in history – United States Women’s Soccer Team star Kristine Lilly – and one of the smartest women I’ve ever known – professor of corporate strategy and organizational behavior Dr. Lynette Gillis – to write Powerhouse: 13 Teamwork Tactics that Build Excellence and Unrivaled Success.
In this book, we illustrate the hallmarks of high-performing teams and dig deep into the dynamics of collaborative work to give readers specific steps they can take to help their teams Transform, Empower, Achieve, and Motivate to accomplish more.
